Configure a Yealink phone with a SIP account
How to register a Yealink phone on a Vohippo SIP account from the phone's web interface. All you need is the phone's IP address and the account's username and password, which you find in the portal.
How do I open the phone's web interface?
On Yealink phones the IP address appears when you press OK or from the Status menu. With that address you open the web interface and sign in with the admin credentials.
- The phone and the computer must be on the same network
- Type the phone's IP address into the browser, for example http://192.168.1.50
- If the default password does not work, check the phone's label or the model's manual
Which fields do I fill in?
The path is Account → Register. Fill in the fields like this, with your SIP account details:
- Line Active: Enabled
- Label and Display Name: the name to show, for example Reception
- Register Name: the SIP account's username
- User Name: the same username (for Vohippo both fields hold the same value)
- Password: the account's password
- SIP Server 1: sip.vohippo.com, port 5060, UDP transport
SIP account on the phone
Username and password are in the portal: one account per phone, with its own channels and limits.
- Server sip.vohippo.com, port 5060 UDP
- Username and password of the SIP account
- Codecs G.711 a-law, µ-law and G.722
How do I check that it is registered?
Save and wait a few seconds. The account status shows on the web interface's status page and, usually, on the phone's display.
- Registered status: the account is live, you can make a test call
- In the portal, under SIP accounts, the account shows as registered
- Call a mobile phone: if you hear and are heard, you are done
What to know about Yealink phones
Menu items can change slightly between models and firmware versions: if a field is missing, look for the one with the same meaning.
- Each line on the phone has its own Account page: you can register several accounts on the same phone
- Codecs are chosen on the Codec page of the same account
- After saving, the Registered status appears on the Account page and on the status page
If something goes wrong
The problems are almost always the same on every brand: they are explained in full in the general VoIP phone guide.
- Registration rejected (403): wrong username or password, often a trailing space copied by mistake
- Registration that comes and goes: expiry too long behind a router that closes ports, try 300-600 seconds
- One-way audio: almost always NAT, turn off the router's SIP ALG
Frequently asked questions
Are Register Name and User Name different?
In general yes (authentication user and SIP user), but with Vohippo they match: put the account's username in both.
Can I set up several lines?
Yes: each account on the phone is a line, and each registers on a different SIP account.
